Pegleg - the black Rider

Last year we had to design costumes for the Black Rider, a musical originaly directed by Bob Wilson and with the Music of Tom Waits.

I decided to put some more energy in one of the character: The devil/Pegleg. Usually we only have to draw the costumes, but this time I felt like making something. Below some photos of the proces and the final piece

The Black Rider

I had three years of 'Material development'. I can't really translate it haha, but you have to make your own materials which work well in theater.
This time the assignment was linked to the costume project at that time: 'The Black Rider'. A musical originaly directed by Robert Wilson and with the music of Tom Waits. It's about a man who made a deal with the devil. In my material I showed what happens if you are touched by him.

First we had to make some tests before the final project, below. are three of them. I used all kinds of material, that's also important at this course haha. I used my gluegun, yarn, wax and all kinds of fabric.

After that the final piece, used my mom as model <3 After all I used a old jacket of hers. Added lights for some extra effect!

Perfomance

Last week we had a perfomance workshop at school with Roos van Geffen. We watched a documentary about the Higgsparticle. With the information we gained out of the documantary we had to find a way to make the subject our own.
I made one perfomance per day, in total four. For the presentation on the last day a made one performance by putting all four together.

I study theatredesign so normally we don't stand on the stage but behind it haha. It was a really tough week, but an awesome experience.

Bladerunner - Costume designs

Beside the set designs I also made costume designs for Bladerunner.
This time I used several techniques to make the design: First I made a collage of photos, then I painted them over with acryllic paint and finished it with a black fineliner. Some are edited in photoshop. I also edited the faces in photoshop so they looked a bit more painted.

Schoolproject, costume designs for 'Into the Woods' by Stephen Sondheim.
These are the final drawing, drawn with pencil and aquarel.

Tidal - costume designs

'Tidal', actually a modern version of the 'Swan Lake'.With a schoolproject we had to design the Costumes for this dance piece.

Kostuumontwerp Cupido

Voor deze opdracht moesten we een moderne Cupido maken. Ik heb eerst een soort historische gemaakt en daarna een cupido die je nu op straat zou kunnen tegenkomen. De moderne Cupido heeft twee soorten sigaretten bij zich, als je de rook van de liefdessigaret inademt wordt je verliefd, als je de rook van de haatsigaret inademt ga je iemand haten.
